Almost there!!
All that’s left to do is:
- Wipe down the bathroom counter.
- Vacuum the living room and our bedroom.
- Wipe down the kitchen counters.
- Clean our Oreck air filter.
The Vet will also spend some of tomorrow planting the flowers and our tomato plants. But he loves to do that.
Oh, and I need to clean out my trunk. It’s not too bad, but I want it to match the sparkling cleanliness of the rest of the car.
The house looks great. It’s usually pretty tidy – The Vet is a neat freak – but my mom is legendary in her cleaning, so I wanted to make sure it was in tip top shape.
It’s funny, because it wasn’t that long ago that my mom and I were barely speaking. But I try to remember that you only get one chance with your parents. There has also been a huge change in her attitude – although the reasoning is silly. Because I am in a very good and stable relationship, I have more value in her eyes. She keeps telling me how jealous my aunt is, as her daughter has yet to settle down again after being divorced for 17 years.
I know it’s not ideal thinking – but she’s 77 – she is not going to change. I’m determined just to try and make good memories.

“I’m determined just to try and make good memories.”
You’re not only sweet, you’re wise too!
@ OW – Thanks sweetie. I try – I don’t always succeed, but I try. Being with The Vet has taught me to live in the moment.
