An almost relaxing dinner

So, Wa-wa and I have been having similar stress problems and we went out to dinner tonight to just relax and chat about life, forgetting our tales of woe.  She very kindly offered to pay for the majority of my dinner tonight at an area Japanese steakhouse.

If you’ve been, you know that it’s communal seating.  As luck would have it, we arrived at the same time a party of 6 did, so we were able to be seated and waited on immediately.  The six included grandparents, parents and 2 kids, a girl who looked to be somewhere from 8-10 and a boy who was probably somewhere between 11-13.

The boy was quiet, talking to his grandparents a lot and focusing on his very nice cellphone.  His sister…..was curious about EVERYTHING.  And she rarely stopped talking.  Loudly.  Ever.

She asked the waitress if she lives in China, she asked for the fire to happen over and over again, she wanted to know why she didn’t get this, why she didn’t get that….and on top of everything else, they gave her Mountain Dew to drink.  Yeah, she needed that kick.

On top of that, our chef must have been on his first day – he flubbed proportions, cooking, cutting, the whole show.  Oh well, for the most part, it still tasted good.  The little girl demanded that she get an umbrella for her drink – then held it over the grill when her father took her Mountain Dew away for a bit.  She said, just give me my drink!!!

So, not so relaxing.  The parents kept giving each other looks over their daughter’s head, like, this is your fault.  The grandmother mentioned something about the girl’s energy and the mom said, she’s like this from the minute she gets up until she goes to bed.

Ah well, at least it’s always fun to spend time with Wa-wa.
