Glinda lives on, damaged, but still alive
I took Glinda to the garage today and they took a look at her and proclaimed her fine to drive. It’s all cosmetic – which as gas prices are $4 a gallon and so I will be driving a lumpy car for some time.
People have been saying to me, you have the worst luck. Really? I think my luck is actually pretty good. I could have been killed, but I wasn’t. The car is drivable. I don’t have to get a rental or anything like that. God watches over me and for that I am eternally grateful.
I could have been killed when my van exploded back in August. But I wasn’t. Again, God was watching out for me. As you know, I am not religious, but spiritual. And yes, I do believe that God takes care of me.
So, when people say I have bad luck – maybe they are right. But I also have great faith and that has pulled me through each time. So Glinda lives on, maybe a little less shiny, maybe a little worn down – but a survivor nonetheless.

Sort of a perpetual glass is half full sort of outlook, very nice. I tend to drift to the glass being half empty and with a liquid that I don’t even want to drink LOL
Glad all the damage is cosmetic, may not look the best, but will still do all the work needed.
I like your good attitude! I’m very glad you weren’t hurt. People are killed by deer.
Also, sometimes “bad” events teach us to not take things for granted.
I accidentally hit a car in the parking garage about 8 months ago (left a note of course) and I thought it was bad luck, but maybe it was God telling me to drive more carefully, saving me from something worse.
I don’t know what God was trying to say about the deer. Maybe She was saying, “Buy deer whistles.”
Protip from a Kansas country girl: They say deer whistles should be mounted low, but everyone I know who did that and still hit deer say that they have had no problems after moving the deer whistles up (to the luggage rack, etc).
i always have felt like i have the worst damn luck. but then again i have survived alotta things i shouldn’t have, so maybe my luck ain’t so bad.
You have a great day, Lawgirl!
Ron, lol… Love your philosophy
All great comments.
LG, I had one of those “lightbulb” moments one day in my mid-thirties (it was actually more of a hiroshima-type, blinding flash…) when I was feeling like my luck couldn’t get any worse and I was feeling majorly dumped-on. I was feeling sorry for myself (unlike you, now… good attitude!) and I had the life-changing realization that said, “You know what? This is LIFE! Deal with it!”
Ron – totally agree. I try very hard to stay positive.
Drunkbunny – Lol, you know, I had never heard of a deer whistle until The Professor told me about them. This, after me growing up in farming country. How wild!!
Miss Katie – Exactly!!
One Wink – Very true!! I agree.
